Definitions: Science

Science is the observation, identification, description, experimental investigation, and theoretical explanation of natural phenomena. (Creation involves a supernatural creator, outside the realm of science.) Science does not require absolute proof, otherwise science textbooks would be empty. Nothing can be proved outside the field of mathematics. Science works by the use of the scientific method: explanations are found, and tests made to tell which ones are correct.

"This basic notion of evolution is thoroughly scientific in the strictest sense of the word, and as such is as highly corroborated and at least as powerful as the notion of gravity or the idea that the earth is round, spins on its axis, and revolves around the sun." - Niles Eldredge, Curator of paleontology, American Museum of Natural History

Evolution is a scientific theory. Therefore the term "theory" should also be defined.
